What’s with the green hats?

The Washington Nationals took the field the other day, sporting, you guessed it: green hats. Having done some research, I’ve found out that the hats were worn to support a “go green theme” according to the ballclub. Further research revealed that the event was sponsored by the Discovery Channel, which is launching a “Planet Green” channel. While I think “going green” is a nice idea, the green hats are a definite miss with me. Instead of wasting the resources to create a new hat (to be used once), wouldn’t it have been a “greener idea” to wear a green recycled ribbon/patch, instead? Not to mention the fact that the green hat just doesn’t look good with that uni. Let me know what you guys think!

  • I think his face says it all…

  • If it was Boston, sure, I get it. But there is nothing Green in DC. Capitals and WIzards are blue, and the skins are red. There is no reason to have that hat. Sew on a patch, plant some trees somewhere, but the hat is awful.

It seems like the pitcher knows it too. Or perhaps his face is a reflection of the team’s play?

  • Yeah man, that’s what I’m thinking too. Which brings me to thinking… would a green hat (that doesn’t normally seem fitting) be appropriate for the Red Sox if the Celtics won it all? Maybe have the Celts come in, have the big 3 throw the first pitch, have the roster on the field for the 7th inning stretch…. Like you said, green can fit in Beantown, if only for 1 game.

I think the pitcher’s face and the hat both represent the Nationals’ play… ugly and green, with envy.
